Mom is still in town and we spent a nice Sunday afternoon on the rooftop of her old building on the Upper West Side. 30 something years ago Mom lived and worked in New York before moving down to Pensacola with her handsome husband Bob to start a family. One of her first apartments was on 73rd street and Amsterdam Avenue which is where the above picture was taken. Mom lived with her college roommate Jeanne (the blonde pictured below) who still lives in the same building but on a different floor.Photo of the entrance to the building (photo taken March 2008)
Below photo taken back in the 70s in Jeanne's apartment when she hosted a 'good bye' party for Mom. Dad had driven a Uhaul trailer up to NYC from Florida to take his bride-to-be down South with him. Pay close attention to the couch pictured below. As you read this post you will see how it has been kept alive by Jeanne who is a genius at recovering furniture as she updates her apartment.

i love this post! how cool that they were able to drink champagne on their old roof. how were they allowed to do that? do they know the doorman in the building or something? anyway, your parents are so cute. love them!
